Curriculum

Our core curriculum is made up of:

  • Maths

  • Language arts

  • Social studies

Each one of these subjects are taught for at least an hour every day.

The children get to use a wide selection of resources and manipulatives during Maths lessons. They get to enjoy English literature and language by making good use of our library, which has a collection of books for all ages. While science often takes the children outside to explore. We have areas, spaces and equipment that we use for the children to experiment, test and investigate. Classes at NEST benefit from the regular use of laptops and tablets.

Our wider curriculum is made up of:

  • Science

  • Geography

  • History

  • PE

  • Art

  • Performing arts

  • Swimming

Each one of these subjects are taught for at least two hours a week.

We use these subjects to inspire in our children a curiosity and fascination about the world and all that’s in it, to develop their physical abilities and help to keep them active. We use that curiosity to fuel their motivation to learn and develop themselves mentally and physically.

At NEST, we are committed to the integration and inclusion of all children. We believe that all children have a right to be educated and to develop their potential. NEST has a Special Education Needs Statement (SEN) that we abide by.

We have a range of extra-curricular activities. Some of these activities take place during school hours, which could include lunchtime, and some are after school activities. These activities have included Taekwondo, Gymnastics, Swimming, Dance, 4H and Chess. While we are constantly trying to offer our children a range of enjoyable and engaging activities, what we have on offer is likely to change.

All of the activities we offer take place on the school premises, with checked and qualified instructors and/or coaches. While the cost of some of these activities are included in the fees, some need to be paid for separately.
